COMPUTED GUIDED IMPLANT SURGERY

CT- GUIDED IMPLANT SURGERY :

“Dr. Arun and his team are always very dependable and accommodative. I could only manage to arrange for a short-term visit to India to get the implants for my front teeth done and apparently, planning the sittings and the meticulous follow up to get the required materials on time to work it out perfectly to suit my looks, especially because they were the front teeth, was extremely important. Not only did Dr. Arun take up this risky time-sensitive task with a welcoming attitude, but also totally impressed us by taking so much care to work out everything so well in the limited time to my fullest satisfaction. Now after a couple of months of having the implant done, I can confidently say that the quality of the job done by him is so good that no one even noticed that these are my implant teeth and even when I myself suggested Dr. Arun to one of my friends here who was considering a dental treatment, they still couldn’t tell that they weren’t my natural teeth smiling at them! Exactly what I wanted!! They look absolutely natural and this was my main expectation when I went in for the treatment and they have been undoubtedly fulfilled. I can’t thank you enough Dr. Arun & team!! Keep up your good work & wish you all success”-NETIZEN Thank you for your review!

In general, a regular full mouth OPG x-ray, gives us a 2 dimensional view of our teeth and bones. Since our jaw bone is 3 dimensional structure, we advise to take a CBCT, Cone Beam Computerized Tomography, a scan used to give us a 3D view of our jaw bone. We can view them in various sections that will give us the position of the nerve in relation to the tooth, bone density, the size of the implant that can be placed and various other factors that can determine the success of the surgery.

At Pearls, we have an in-house CBCT machine along with the GALILEOS 3D software, where one can virtually place the implants in the planned position to help give a better understanding of the procedure to the dentist as well as the patient. This planned procedure can be replicated on the day of the surgery in the form of guides (models) that can help in enhancing the proposed treatment.
Further, this will help in providing a temporary prosthesis on the day of the implant surgery that will help in maintaining the patient’s esthetics and function.
Pre- planning the implant surgery plays an essential role in the success of the implant.

In short, CBCT is advantageous as it:
  • Helps in reducing the surgery time
  • Helps in making a suitable choice of the implant size
  • Improving the accuracy of the placement position
  • Precautions that can be taken to reduce the complications
  • Aids in providing temporary prosthesis
  • The right choice of bone graft/membrane in respect to the defect
  • Better patient education and understanding of the procedure
  • Helps in monitoring the progress of bone regeneration and implant success

CT- GUIDED IMPLANT SURGERY :

Computer-guided implant surgery helps us achieve a safer and a more predictable implant placement.

Computer-guided surgery uses images from the patient’s Cone Beam CT scan to precisely plan implant treatment.

Cone beam CT shows the :

:
  • Available bone height and width,
  • Thickness of soft tissues
  • Vital structures, such as the nerve position and maxillary sinus
  • Root anatomy and proximity of adjacent teeth.

The duplication of the planned surgery to the patient’s mouth with the help of a surgical guide is all about what guided surgery is about.

2.The patient will wear a radiographic template or a teeth like template which will be worn in the patient’s mouth in the upper and lower jaw and then the patient is asked to take a CBCT scan which will capture all the teeth position.

3.The ideal teeth position and the ideal bone position that is available is recorded.

4.Once the position is recorded, with the help of an implant planning software, we mark the position of the nerve and we will virtually place the implants in the available bone and replicate the same in the patient’s mouth.

5.Based on this, we will formulate the ideal plan which will replace the form, function and aesthetics of the given patient.

This increased level of patient education can provide greater acceptance of a proposed treatment plan. Virtual planning can be extremely helpful, providing patients with a predictable treatment outcome while meeting all surgical parameters.
